In that case I suggest you have not set a mirror to pick packages from.

List of mirrors found at https://mirrors.mageia.org/ and do
check mirror status at https://mirrors.mageia.org/status

You can set/configure the mirror in via mcc in a root terminal
mcc->Software Management->Configure media sources for install and update

I did not mention in my text but I had already selected almost all
repositories and unchecked the CD-ROM.

I will suggest that you should not enable Debug, testing and backports.

Since you mentioned release 9 then I suggest you to also need set the update
check boxes on enabled media.
I suggest clicking up a root terminal and running
drakrpm-edit-media --expert

Based on your post I can only guess you can not connect to the mirror.

I would like to see the output from
urpmq --dump

As root run "drakrpm-edit-media --expert". Add checkmarks in the Updates
column for all of the Release media that are enabled. Close the media
editor. Run "urpmi --auto-update". What's the result?

The images show the problem.
Disable the cdrom (KD-ROMo) and core release debug repos.
Enable the core release repo.

Forgot to add. As well as selecting the core release (instead of core release
debug) repo, enable the updates (Gisdatigod) option for the core release,
nonfree release, and tainted release repos.

For the 32 bit repos, if your going to enable the core updates, nonfree updates,
and tainted updates, also enable the core, nonfree and tainted release repos.

Now I am able to install programs and updates no longer show errors. Thanks.
