This is nothing new but has caused me to wonder. Particularly when
deleting kernels.

Some are labeled 2.mga9 or 1.mga9. What do the numbers "1" or "2" indicate

It labels Magei changes to the kernel. The kernel comes out with a
version number. Magei discoveres some minor problems
and corrects them.and puts in an mga revision number to let the user
know. These might be minor changes that makes the kenrel word better
with the rest f the Mageia release of minor security fixees. Ie, f
there is no $.mga then the kenrel is exactly as dowloaded from say
kernel.org. If there is 1mga then there were changes made by mageia If
there If 2.mga then there were two sets one ageter .1mga was released
Magea does not like downloading a new kernel versions since that may
bread ther things.
