And, now, here I am answering my own question .......
I had a look at https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_10_Development (last
edited a fortnight ago) and, it would seem, MGA V10 might be a
Christmas/New Year Present for us.
Hmmm!! Do I now bother upgrading to V9?? Can I use that as practice for
the V10 upgrade?? ;-P
Take careful note of the shaded box on that page: We "Release when
ready!" The dates on that page are guidelines, a target to aim for, but
are definitely NOT set in stone. They depend on developer progress, or,
lack thereof.
For example, the page says that the alpha is scheduled for release in
three days. That's not going to happen. Before isos are released, they
must be built and then tested for basic function by the QA team. There
hasn't been so much as a hint of that happening yet.
But even if it were to happen, upgrades that skip a version are NOT
supported, and that would include an upgrade from Mageia 8 to Mageia 10.
Mageia 8 has been EOL, not receiving security updates for many months.
It is highly recommended that Mageia 8 users switch to Mageia 9 to get
those security updates, some of which were considered critical.
