I am attempting to return my MCC login to administrator password, like
the good old days

I have set Software Management Network and Boot
to Administrator password
But MCC still asks for user password to login and so does
net applet
I've missed something. It's never as simple as I think

In draksec (mcc/Security/Configure authentication for Mageia tools) under "Software Management"
there are three choices available, each of which can be set to User password, Admin password, or
no password. The all also have the option of using the default, which varies depending on the
security level chosen

- Software Management is for running rpmdrake, to install or uninstall packages.
- Mageia update is for mgaapplet, for installing updates to already installed packages.
- Software Media Manager is for drakrpm-edit-media, which is used to add or remove
repositories.

The net_applet program for connecting or disconnecting to a router. A user can connect or
disconnect a network connection if the option to allow users to manage the connection has
been set for that connection in the network settings. The setting is stored in
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 (replace eth0 with whatever network interface you
are using). Make sure it has USERCTL=yes as one of the lines.

A user can not change the network configuration without the root password, just connect or
disconnect an already configured network interface, if USERCTL is set to yes.

If you are logged in as a user, then, if the user is in the sudo file it
will ask for theuser password.

One would hope not as otherwise your 5 year old could boot in to run
root programs.
