Brother MFC-J5620DW problem

Using Mageia 5, every time we try to print, it beeps and its display
says, "Wrong tray settings. Put the following size paper in Tray #1 and
restart printing. Letter. Or change tray settings." Then there are
buttons to push for each option. The problem is that the right paper is
already in the tray and the tray settings are correct. Does anybody
know if this is this a driver problem?

I have always had Brother printers. I find that their support is
excellent.

another possibility is a firmware update.

I would
o check the vendor website for any printer or cups update rpms
o If dates are newer than mine, install updates.
o Power down printer.
o reboot system
o bring up cups, delete any pending print jobs
o delete the printer
o power up printer
o have cups re-scan/add printer
o click the default button to get/set printer values.
o bring up an editor, add something to print and print it.

I went to the Brother site for Tom's printer. A better bet is to
download the installer script listed there. It will automatically
download and install the latest RPMs, including those for the
scanner, if one is present. If the problem persists, contact
Support. The script asks for your model, so the copy I have
might work. For firmware, I take the link in the Windows
installer to be notified, but I don't think it is available for
Linux. You need to be in Windows to run it.

Someone else has mentioned that 6+ months ago and I think I removed my
manually downloaded installed rpm, ran the installer and it did not
work for me.

My guess about the OP's problem is guessing cups needs printer
configuration update. Delete/add and picking defaults would/should
help if that is the case.

That assumes printer the vendor rpm was used for install.

I get this message when I forget to move the photo paper holder back
before printing my A4 stuff. Is it as simple as making sure the paper
trays are correctly positioned?
